Health Minister Dr Jalila Al Sayyed toured the pharmacy automation project at Salmaniya Medical Complex and reviewed its progress and implementation phases.
The project is part of efforts to develop pharmaceutical services and advance digital transformation in the health sector.
Government Hospitals chief executive officer Dr Mariam Al Jalahma also accompanied the minister, who was later briefed on the project details, including the establishment of advanced infrastructure to support the adoption of the latest automation technologies in pharmaceutical services.
Dr Al Jalahma said the pharmacy automation project is one of the initiatives supporting the ongoing development of the health sector. “It also reflects the drive to adopt modern technologies and innovation to improve the efficiency of healthcare services.”
She said the project includes the installation of robotic medication dispensing systems in the outpatient pharmacy, automated medication dispensing cabinets in hospital wards, and the implementation of smart systems to manage and monitor pharmaceutical inventory across the hospital.
Dr Al Jalahma said the project will improve the efficiency and speed of medication dispensing services, enhance the accuracy of pharmaceutical inventory management, and strengthen governance and oversight of medication movement, ensuring the optimal use of resources while supporting patient safety and the quality of healthcare.
