CRICKET – EXCITEMENT continues to build for Abraj Al Lulu Premier League (AAPL) Season Seven with the success of the players’ selection event, held at Savoy Grande Hotel in Seef.
AAPL organisers, team captains, players, and community members took part in the gathering, which was one of the highlights leading up to this year’s competition, scheduled to get underway in September.
A group of facilitators were elected by the participating players to ensure transparency and smooth execution in the selection process.
They included Sagar Shah, Himanshu Patel, Ajay Patel, Gaurav Sontakke, Kalpesh, and Abhishek.
The players’ selection featured four franchises, with captains strategically building their squads through a competitive process conducted using the Super Player App. Each captain assembled a balanced 15-member team within the allotted player budget by selecting players across predefined categories.
The four captains were Vinay Gupta of Abraj Indians, Sanito D’Silva of Abraj Lions, Hozefa Petiwala of Abraj Violets, and Mishal Soni of Abraj Dhurandhar.
Also during the selection event, AAPL organisers shared a long-term vision for the league.
Players were introduced to a year-round cricket calendar aimed at keeping the community engaged through multiple tournaments and events.
The proposed roadmap includes AAPL Season Seven as the flagship event, the Abraj Ramadan Cup, the Abraj Eid Cup, the Abraj Knockout Tournament, the Abraj Summer Series, and the Abraj Winter Cup.
This roadmap reflects the organisers’ commitment to promoting cricket, sportsmanship, and community engagement throughout the year, providing players with multiple opportunities to participate and compete.
Organisers extended their thanks to BFC, GDN, Abraj Al Lulu Owners Association, and Weather Cool for their support of AAPL.
