A group of intermediate students took part in a traditional cooking initiative aimed at reinforcing the value of pride in national identity and authentic cultural heritage.
Held by the Islamic Society’s Al Fateh Committee in Riffa, the Bahraini machboos challenge introduced the younger generation to one of the most prominent dishes in the kingdom and the Gulf.
It is made by slow-cooking meat, popularly chicken or lamb, with fragrant basmati rice, warm spices such as cardamom, cinnamon and turmeric, and dried limes, also known as loomi.

The initiative is part of a series of summer programmes implemented by the committee’s activities department, aiming to utilise students’ free time by providing high-quality workshops that combine practical benefit with guided entertainment.
