Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael Al Mubarak met Bahrain Smart City Society (BSCS) chairwoman Dr Shaikha Fay bint Abdulla Al Khalifa and members of the society.
Municipalities Affairs Under-Secretary Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa attended the meeting.
The minister emphasised the ministry’s commitment to further enhancing co-operation and co-ordination with civil society organisations and specialised entities to support the exchange of expertise and ideas and contribute to the development of initiatives and projects that support municipal and agricultural services.
Mr Al Mubarak congratulated Dr Shaikha Fay on her appointment as chairwoman of the BSCS, wishing her and the newly elected board of directors success in carrying out their responsibilities.
The meeting also reviewed topics of mutual interest and explored opportunities for co-operation between the ministry and the society in the areas of innovation, smart city applications, and the use of modern technologies to enhance service efficiency and support sustainable development goals.
For her part, Dr Shaikha Fay affirmed the commitment of the BSCS to further enhancing co-operation with the ministry and developing an effective partnership that supports the implementation of quality initiatives and the exchange of expertise, in support of development efforts and Bahrain’s smart transformation.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the chairwoman and members of the society toured the historic Manama Municipality building, which reflects Bahrain’s longstanding municipal heritage through its distinctive architecture. They also visited the municipal exhibition, which documents the history of municipal work in the kingdom and highlights key achievements and developments in the municipal sector over the past decades.
