BOWLING – Bahrain's junior boys’ bowling national team are all geared up to compete in the 25th Asian Junior Bowling Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The kingdom’s representatives have arrived at the Indonesian capital and are conducting their final preparations for the official start of play tomorrow.
The Bahrainis will today take part in the pre-tournament practice sessions and opening ceremony at Jakarta’s Jaya Ancol Bowling Centre.
The nationals will then get their medal bids underway in the singles competition tomorrow.
Bahrain’s squad features talented young bowlers Khalifa Hamad Althawadi, Faisal Bader Sameer, Abdulkarim Mohamed Aljahrami, Ali Ahmed Aqeel, Al Husein Sabt, Sultan Mohamed Yusuf, and Abdulrahman Muhamed Saeed.
Aside from tomorrow’s singles, they will also be hitting the lanes in doubles on Tuesday and the teams’ event on Wednesday and Thursday.
They will then hope to qualify for the masters, which is scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday.
The Bahrainis are competing as part of a field of 92 boys’ bowlers and 37 girls’ competitors representing 15 countries.
The other nations are China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Kuwait, Macau, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, and Vietnam.
