Marine researchers in Bahrain have captured rare footage of a Smoothnose Wedgefish, a critically endangered species.
Known for its distinct shark-like body and flattened, wedge-shaped head, the species can grow up to three metres long.
Researchers at FinSight Bahrain - the kingdom’s first dedicated shark and ray research programme - recorded the rare sighting using specialised non-invasive underwater cameras and bait systems.
