Health Minister Dr Jalila Al Sayyed, chaired the regular meeting of the National Committee to Combat Smoking, Tobacco and Tobacco Products.
The Minister emphasised the importance of continued co-ordination among relevant entities and intensifying preventive, awareness-raising and regulatory efforts to reduce the consumption of tobacco and tobacco products.
Dr Al Sayyed also chaired the third meeting of the National Taskforce on the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases for 2026.
The meeting reviewed updates on approved operational plans and preventive programmes, as well as progress in implementing initiatives related to the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases.
It also discussed the report of the National Colorectal Cancer Early Detection Programme and community awareness efforts on the importance of screening and early detection.
