A top health official yesterday emphasised the importance of community initiatives that promote prevention and early detection, noting that timely screenings can identify risk factors and chronic diseases at an early stage and support appropriate healthcare intervention.
Supreme Council for Health (SCH) President Lieutenant-General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa was speaking as he reviewed an initiative for the early detection of chronic diseases, organised by Primary Healthcare Centres (PHC) at Marassi Galleria Mall, in the presence of Health Minister Dr Jalila Al Sayyed.
He commended the efforts undertaken to implement the initiative and the preventive services and examinations it offers.
He stressed the importance of integrated healthcare efforts in promoting prevention and reducing risk factors and the prevalence of chronic diseases, thereby contributing to improved community health and quality of life.
The Health Minister emphasised the importance of making preventive healthcare services accessible to the community and encouraging regular screenings to support early detection and referral to appropriate health services.
PHC chief executive officer Dr Ejlal Al Alawi said the initiative promotes prevention and early detection while providing appropriate health guidance to participants.
The initiative targets citizens and their family members aged 18 and above.
It provides initial health measurements and screenings, medical consultations and, for eligible participants, laboratory tests in accordance with approved guidelines in the kingdom.
