Hundreds of students yesterday returned to the Al Mazrowiah campus of Riffa Views International School (RVIS) for the official start of the 2026/2027 academic year, marking a new chapter of learning, growth and opportunity for the close-knit community.
Eager students reunited with peers whilst parents dropped off their children at the school entrance. Teachers and faculty members lined the corridors, greeting returning families and welcoming new admissions to the school. The morning assemblies set an optimistic tone for the year ahead, focusing on continuous student development and community collaboration.
Founded in 2005 as a premier private, non-profit institution, RVIS has long established itself as a cornerstone of personalised, high-quality learning within the kingdom.
In the two decades since its inception, the school has expanded its mission to blend Bahrain’s time-honoured cultural values and language with world-class curriculum choices. This unique educational model ensures that while students are equipped with global perspectives via prestigious academic frameworks, they remain grounded in their local heritage. Today, the state-of-the-art campus serves a highly-diverse student population representing dozens of nationalities.
As an established IB World School, RVIS offers the full International Baccalaureate continuum, including the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). This structure provides students with a coherent educational journey from early childhood through to graduation, supporting them in becoming confident, compassionate and internationally-minded individuals.
The new academic year is guided by the strategic theme ‘Learning with Purpose, Leading with Impact’. This directive reflects RVIS’s core commitment to developing students who understand not only what they learn, but why it matters. The theme places meaningful learning, student agency and responsible leadership directly at the centre of the school experience.
Head of School Michael Donaldson commented on the start of the new school year and theme. “The beginning of a new academic year is an important moment for our entire community,” he said. “We’re delighted to welcome our returning students and families, as well as those joining RVIS for the first time.
“Our theme, ‘Learning with Purpose, Leading with Impact’, reflects our belief that education should inspire curiosity, develop character and equip students to make a meaningful contribution to the world around them. We look forward to working together as a community to make this a year of purposeful learning and positive impact.”
With a strong focus on academic excellence, student wellbeing, innovation and the core IB philosophy, the school looks forward to creating meaningful opportunities throughout the year. At RVIS, the journey begins with purpose – and the impact begins with the students.
