Iraqi football club Erbil SC were awarded a 3-0 win against Saudi Arabia's Al Ettifaq in the Gulf Club Champions League yesterday after the visiting team failed to turn up.
The match was scheduled to take place at the Franso Hariri Stadium in Erbil.
Al Ettifaq reportedly requested a postponement citing security concerns, but the plea was rejected by the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation.
Erbil SC players, match officials, and supporters gathered at the stadium as scheduled, with the event broadcast live on multiple sports channels.
The home team posed for a group photograph before waiting out the mandatory cooling-off period on the pitch.
The match referee subsequently declared Erbil SC victors by a 3-0 default scoreline following Al Ettifaq's non-appearance.
