THE fifth edition of a popular annual food festival will be launched this weekend.
The Bahrain Food Festival, organised by the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), will be held at Bahrain Bay over two periods: from Thursday (Feb 20) until February 29, and from March 5 to 14.
Around 100 restaurants will be taking part over the course of the two periods of the festival bringing the total number of participants this year to more than 200.
The event – which will take place every Sunday to Wednesday from 4pm to 11pm and Thursday to Saturday from 4pm to 12am – will feature entertainment for the whole family, including a children’s play area, a traditional village which will offer local food and live cooking stations, as well as fun competitions and live musical performances on stage.
The festival comes in line with the authority’s vision to develop the tourism sector by organising a series of events and activities aimed at enhancing the country’s position as a leading regional gastronomy destination, said a statement yesterday (Feb 17).
