CONSTRUCTION work on a BD787,639 academic building in an intermediate girls’ school in the Southern Governorate is 36 per cent completed.
Work on the structure at the East Riffa Intermediate Girls’ School started in July 2019 and is expected to be handed over to the Education Ministry early next year.
According to the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry’s construction projects director Mariam Ameen, work is currently underway to construct the second-floor pillars and install bricks on the ground floor following the completion of foundation and concrete structure work for the first and second floor.
“The project is part of the Education Ministry’s larger plan to construct new schools and expand existing ones to keep up with the increased demand for more schools in Bahrain,” she said in a statement.
“The building is being constructed on a 2,238sqm plot of land and will contain three floors and 16 classrooms equipped with the latest educational tools and necessary facilities.”
She also highlighted that the building design took into account modern educational requirements as well as green building specifications to rationalise energy consumption along with special needs requirements.
