The Arab Parliament rejected a report issued by Amnesty International about the human rights situation in Bahrain, saying that it was not based on facts or evidence and contained fallacies.
The report lacked professionalism and objectivity and did not provide real evidence to back its erroneous and misleading accusations, the parliament said.
Its approach is in stark contrast to the basic principles adopted by the United Nations to monitor and document human rights situations, it added.
The parliament stressed that the reference by Amnesty International to cases in which the courts of justice that are institutions known for their integrity and independence issued their final verdict is a blatant and unacceptable interference in Bahrain’s judiciary and domestic affairs.
The Arab Parliament also stressed that Amnesty International ignored in its report the great human rights reforms Bahrain has achieved, as confirmed by the review reports issued by the UN Human Rights Council.
Amnesty International also disregarded Bahrain’s membership on the Human Rights Council from 2019 to 2021, which refutes the false allegations and misleading claims in its report.
