Manama: Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani has reiterated Bahrain’s strong condemnation of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
He was holding a phone call with Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr Riyadh Al Maliki.
They discussed the latest Palestinian developments, and the Israeli attacks against the people of Jerusalem and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories.
Dr Al Zayani expressed the condolences of the kingdom to the Palestinian leadership and people for the martyrs who were killed as a result of the Israeli attacks, and wishing the wounded a speedy recovery.
He also expressed Bahrain’s solidarity with the Palestinian people, stressing the position of the kingdom in support of the Palestinian cause, believing in the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the basis of the principle of the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative and in accordance with the relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
The minister also said Bahrain welcomed an the invitation Saudi Arabia to a meeting of the executive committee of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation at the level of foreign ministers to discuss developments.
