Black Lives Matter US embassy flag snub
Editor’s note: GDN question: What’s the criteria to display certain flags at the US embassy in Bahrain, and why not display both the BLM and the Pride flags?
This response came two days later.
The US Federal Government, and US embassies around the globe, celebrate America’s diverse heritage in different ways throughout the year, from Black History Month, to Women’s History Month, and celebrations in recognition of Asian and Hispanic Americans and the LGBTQI community, among others.
This month we are also celebrating America’s history of immigration which has made America the diverse country it is today.
Not every celebration or commemoration is the same, but each reflects the important contributions of that community to America.
