DIPLOMATIC assistance has been pledged to the parents of a teenager who reportedly fell to his death from a building in Umm Al Hassam.
The body of the 17-year-old Indian was spotted near the building around 500 metres from his residence on Friday.
A death certificate issued by the Health Ministry said that the cause of Sukrit Rajesh’s death was due to “cardiopulmonary arrest due to severe head trauma as a consequence of a fall from height”.
The time of death was recorded at 7am on the same day.
However, the parents of the Indian School Bahrain (ISB) student, in their complaint addressed to Indian Ambassador Piyush Srivastava (seen by the GDN), called for “further investigation” into the “unnatural” death of their son.
“Yes, we are aware of the unfortunate incident,” Mr Srivastava told the GDN, adding that “the local authorities are looking into the matter”.
The 17-year-old was seen on CCTV leaving his home at 2.30am on the day of the incident.
Indian social worker Abdul Rahman who saw the footage told the GDN that the boy was seen leaving his home with a water bottle.
“According to his mother, he had set an alarm for 5am to study,” he said.
“The watchman who came in the morning from the other building informed the police that he spotted the body near the fire exit staircase.”
