I OFTEN wonder why some towers and buildings do not have enough car parking spaces for their residents.
In Juffair, Amwaj, Seef and Diyar Al Muharraq areas we see a number of residential buildings with insufficient car parking slots.
If the residents are lucky and there is some vacant plot of land around their buildings they park there, but what will happen once those plots are also occupied?
Since each family has a minimum of two cars (for wife and husband), the government should make it compulsory for any studio flat to have a minimum of one car parking space, one- and two-bedroom apartments should have a minimum of two car parking slots and three- and four-bedroom flats should have a minimum of three car parking spaces.
There should also be 10-20 per cent extra space for guest parking as the residents might have visitors as well.
I hope the Housing Ministry and related authorities will consider this while licensing any new tower or building.
