BAHRAIN will move to the yellow zone of Covid-19 restrictions from Sunday until January 31, 2022, it has been announced.
According to the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus, this precautionary measure is being taken to preserve the health and safety of people across the kingdom.

This comes as the world grapples with the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus, although only one case has been recorded in Bahrain.
This decision is subject to review upon further information becoming available on the Omicron variant from internationally recognised medical research.
People have been urged to adhere to the yellow level procedures as well as continue to observe the necessary precautionary measures.
Eligible individuals should also proceed to a health centre to receive a booster shot without the need to make an appointment.

Under the yellow zone, masks must be worn at all times, and Covid-vaccinated and Covid-recovered individuals must show their green shield on the BeAware application in order to enter the following facilities.
• Shopping malls, shops, restaurants and cafes
• Indoor gyms, sports halls and swimming pools
• Playgrounds and recreational centres (50pc capacity for indoor)
• Events and conferences (50pc capacity indoor)
• Sporting events, as spectators (50pc capacity for indoor)
• Barber shops, salons and spas
• Cinemas, which will be limited to 50pc of their capacity.
At these facilities, children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a green-shield holder.
However, a green shield will not be required to enter standalone government centres and retail shops outside of shopping malls.
The yellow level also allows for the holding of private events at home with no more than 30 attendees and up to 30 per cent work-from-home policy across all government entities.
Both vaccinated and non-vaccinated individuals will be provided the option to attend education and training institutions whilst maintaining social distancing, wearing masks and continuing to follow precautionary measures to limit the spread of the virus.
The following essential sectors will continue to be open to all individuals, irrespective of their vaccination status.
• Hypermarkets, supermarkets, grocery stores and stores that sell meat products and fresh vegetables
• Bakeries
• Fuel and gas stations
• Private health clinics, with the exception of some health services for which a circular is to be issued by the National Health Regulatory Authority
• Banks and currency exchange services
• Administrative offices of institutions and companies, whose activities are not directly customer-facing.
• Import and export distributors and vehicle repair and spare parts shops
• Businesses operating in the processing, construction and maintenance sectors
