THE Cabinet has praised the Jeddah Security and Development Summit for giving a new impetus to the strategic partnership between the GCC and the US.
This partnership will help achieve peace and development as well as enhance co-operation to tackle various challenges, it said.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired the weekly meeting at Gudaibiya Palace yesterday.
Bahrain’s delegation to the summit, held in Jeddah on Saturday, was led by His Majesty King Hamad, in the presence of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
It brought together GCC leaders, King Abdullah of Jordan, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Kadhimi and US President Joe Biden and aimed to consolidate regional and global security.
The Cabinet noted Saudi Arabia’s efforts, led by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud in ensuring the success of the summit.
It highlighted the importance of the address given by His Majesty where he stressed Bahrain’s commitment to further strengthen co-ordination with its allies to consolidate regional and international peace and stability, as well as achieve sustainable development for all.
The Cabinet also noted the importance of the summit’s final communique which affirmed the strategic partnership between the GCC and the US.
The Cabinet thanked Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani for their efforts which were instrumental in securing Bahrain’s membership in the Global Entry Partnership, facilitating the entry of Bahraini citizens to the US through the completion of travel procedures for Bahrainis in advance.
The session noted the outcomes of the Interior Minister’s visit to the US, which has further strengthened co-operation across security and travel facilitation.
In response to the World Health Organisation’s report documenting Bahrain’s comprehensive response to Covid-19, the Cabinet commended Team Bahrain’s efforts in combating the global pandemic, which has made Bahrain a model globally for overcoming critical health challenges.
The Cabinet extended gratitude to Saudi Arabia for measures provided to ensure the health and safety of Bahraini pilgrims, during the Haj season.
The Cabinet offered its condolences over the death of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, recalling his contributions to his country and people, and his prominent role in strengthening long-standing relations with Bahrain.
