PAUL Anderson, the English actor who plays Arthur Shelby in the popular show Peaky Blinders, is set to make his first ever appearance at a convention at the third Bahrain Comic Con (BCC), taking place next month.
David Angelo Roman, the artist of cult classic comic book and animated television show Rick and Morty, will also be at the BCC, to create ‘the ultimate Rick and Morty experience’.
The Comic Con is set to take place on October 28 and 29 at the Bahrain International Circuit.
“I’ve got some great news – I am going to be at Bahrain Comic Con in October!” Mr Roman said in an Instagram video shared by BCC on their social media.
“It’s going to be awesome – It’s going to be the ultimate Rick and Morty experience and I am even going to be giving a class on how to draw Rick and Morty.”
Mr Roman is a classically trained artist, having studied in Spain and Italy, and has also drawn for Star Wars and Walking Dead comic books.
According to BCC organisers Dallah Promotions, Mr Roman is set to release the latest edition of the Rick and Morty Presents comic book at the convention.
“A very limited number of these comics are printed, so each copy is prized by collectors and we are excited that Bahrain’s comic book fans will be the first in the world to get a look at the newest edition!” Dallah Promotions managing partner Salman Bukhari told the GDN.
Along with this first, the appearance of Mr Anderson at the BCC is set to create international buzz as Bahrain’s third-ever Comic Con will be his first-ever global appearance at the venerated Comic Con comic book and multi-genre entertainment convention.
Mr Bukhari also revealed exclusively to the GDN that Mr Anderson will be in Bahrain with his wife and will stay on to explore the sights and sounds of the kingdom and all that it has to offer.
The 43-year-old is best known for playing Arthur Shelby Jr, the eldest son of the Shelby clan which is at the centre of Peaky Blinders, a show following the exploits of the Peaky Blinders crime gang in the direct aftermath of the First World War, set in Birmingham, England.
Mr Anderson has also appeared in the Oscar-winning The Revenant alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows alongside Robert Downey Jr.
The GDN will be the exclusive media partner for the BCC and will be sharing news and interviews leading up to the event, which is expected to attract as many as 20,000 fans from around the world.
The Bahrain Comic Con was last held in Bahrain in 2019, and featured guests including David Harbour, Alison Sudol and Pom Klementieff.
This year will see the popular convention return for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of BCC in 2020.
As in previous years, the convention will also feature the Artist Alley, cosplay competitions as well as local vendors highlighted in front of a global audience.
