A BAHRAINI surgeon has been awarded the gold medal for excellence in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery after topping the UK and Ireland fellowship examination called the FRCS (Plast), the equivalent of board certification in Plastic Surgery.
Dr Ayman Tariq Saeed received the honour after finishing first place in the prestigious FRCS (Plast) exam, which determines whether surgeons have the necessary knowledge and skills required to practise independently as a Consultant.
The programme includes rigorous surgical training in all aspects of reconstructive and plastic surgery including cancer treatment, cosmetic surgery, trauma surgery and burns.
The gold medal is only awarded to the most outstanding surgeons, who have achieved the highest possible standards.
Dr Ayman, a graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) Dublin, who is also a Crown Prince’s International Scholarship (CPISP) recipient, expressed his gratitude for this success.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their wise leadership and the support I have received through the CPISP,” he said.
“This success would not have been possible without the strong foundations that were built through the scholarship programme.
“I would also like to thank my parents, my wife and my family who have supported me every step of the way.
“They are my source of inspiration and strength. Their encouragement was priceless.”
Dr Saeed also extended his gratitude and appreciation to his professors and mentors who have helped him throughout his academic journey and career to date.
He also stated that this achievement is the strong base from which he wishes to serve his country, the Kingdom of Bahrain.
