SEVEN men have been jailed in connection with a bombing in Karranah in which three policemen were injured.
The explosion, on Mach 19 last year, was caused by a bomb made from a fire extinguisher.
One of the defendants who had instigated the attack was sentenced to 25 years behind bars by the High Criminal Court yesterday.
Four of his co-defendants were sentenced to 15 years in jail, while two were sentenced to three years behind bars as they were aged under 18.
Survived
A policeman who took to the stand in court previously told judges that he was knocked unconscious by the blast and was lucky to have survived the attack.
An 18-year-old previously admitted to being paid BD50 for his part in the bombing.
The teenager, who earlier told the court he acted alone in planting the bomb, has 14 cases filed against him in connection with rioting and assaulting policemen.
All seven defendants have been charged with attempted murder and causing an explosion, but only three – including the teenager – are in custody, while the rest have been sentenced in absentia.
