Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Bab Al Bahrain Forum 2025 will convene on Tuesday, April 29, at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay.
The high-level international platform will operate under the theme: 'Shaping a Sustainable Future Through Trade and Employment'.
The forum is set to gather leading decision-makers, representatives from global organisations, economic experts, and entrepreneurs to engage in discussions on rapid economic transformations and explore new avenues for trade and the labour market, with a significant emphasis on innovation and sustainability-driven economic models.
Bahrain Chamber chairman Sameer Nass confirmed the participation of several prominent international figures, including Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa; Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem AlBudaiwi; World Trade Organisation Director-General Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; and International Labour Organization (ILO) Director-General Gilbert F. Houngbo.
The forum will also feature a special address by renowned economist and former Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis, focusing on 'Economic Sustainability and Employment Amid Global Challenges'.
The opening session, titled 'Navigating Economic Transformation: The Impact of Shifting Global Blocs on Stability and Growth,' will delve into the future of multilateral agreements, the balance between regional stability and global growth, and the role of emerging economies, digital innovation, and green technologies in shaping global supply chains and economic resilience.
The second session, 'The Essential Function of the Private Sector and its NGOs in Economic Growth Relative to the Government's Position as Regulator and Service Provider,' will examine the interplay between private initiatives and government policies, the influence of civil society on development, and successful public-private partnership models.
It will also address inclusive policy-making in response to global challenges like climate change and sustainability. This session will feature prominent speakers, including Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro; Federation of GCC Chambers chairman and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman Shaikh Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas; Union of Arab Chambers president and Tunisian Union of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts president Samir Majoul; International Organisation of Employers president Jacqueline Mugo; US Council for International Business president Whitney Baird; and International Chamber of Commerce head of trade Valérie Picard.
The Bab Al Bahrain Forum 2025 underscores the kingdom's growing prominence as a leading regional hub for trade and investment. The event highlights the Kingdom’s strong commitment to fostering international collaboration and promoting dialogue between advanced and emerging economies. By facilitating the exchange of expertise and innovative solutions to global economic challenges, the forum aims to strengthen the foundations for inclusive and sustainable growth for future generations.
