A specialised cybersecurity awareness workshop targeting professionals in the financial services sector was hosted by the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) in collaboration with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
Titled ‘Securing Financial Services Data in the AI Era,’ the session aimed to boost national cyber readiness, promote secure practices, and address emerging risks stemming from artificial intelligence and rapid digital transformation.
Speaking during the event, NCSC director of cyber awareness and training Jawaher Jasim Alkhaja highlighted the centre’s commitment to building cyber awareness across vital national sectors.
She stressed that integrating national efforts with the CBB ensures targeted initiatives tailored to the specific risk environment of the financial market.
“Rapid advances in artificial intelligence and evolving threats underline the urgent need to enhance awareness and promote the responsible use of emerging technologies,” Ms Alkhaja noted.
CBB director of communications and international relations Amina Al Madani emphasised that safeguarding the digital financial ecosystem requires continuous education across all professional levels.
“Our collaboration with the NCSC reflects a shared commitment to enhancing knowledge of cyber risks and secure practices,” Ms Al Madani said.
“Elevating preparedness among sector employees enables them to navigate technological shifts efficiently and responsibly, strengthening confidence in Bahrain’s digital financial ecosystem.”
The event featured two expert-led lectures.
Cybersecurity consultant Ali Beshara delivered the first session on the human element in cybersecurity, focusing on the critical role of personnel in protecting data and infrastructure.
Infiniteware chief executive officer Ameen Altajer presented the second lecture on artificial intelligence and modern cyber trends, exploring current risks, defence strategies, and emerging technologies shaping the field.
The joint initiative underscores Bahrain’s ongoing strategy to foster a sustainable culture of shared responsibility and secure the kingdom’s financial sector against evolving digital threats.
