FOOTBALL – Al Ma’ameer and Al Sehla Al Shamaliya secured their spots in the final of the 22nd Kingdom Golden Generation Tournament for Youth Centres.
The under-17 tournament is organised by Al Sehla Youth Empowerment Centre in cooperation with Abu Quwa and Al Hoora and Qudaibiya Youth Centres.
Ma’ammer and Sehla Shamaliya both advanced after successfully winning their semi-final contests, having originally topped their respective groups in the preliminary round.
Ma’ameer booked the first ticket to the final with a 2-1 victory over Abu Quwa in the last four.
The breakthrough came early in the second half through an own goal by Sayed Ali Hashim, before Abu Quwa equalised via Sajad Fadhel.
However, just one minute before full time, Jaafar Abdulameer Sarhan struck the decisive goal to seal Ma’ameer’s qualification.
With the same 2-1 scoreline, Sehla Shamaliya reached the championship match following a win over Karzakan, who opened the scoring early through Mohammed Jaber Habeeb.
Sehla Shamaliya responded quickly with goals from Nizar Abdulmutalib and Hussein Hani, which were enough to send them through.
The final is scheduled to be played tomorrow at 5.30pm.
