BASKETBALL – Bahrain’s women’s and men’s 3x3 basketball national teams departed yesterday for Singapore where they will conduct a short training camp ahead of their participation in the Fiba 3x3 Asia Cup 2026.
The continental showcase is scheduled to get underway on Wednesday later this week.
The kingdom’s delegation includes 3x3 national teams head coach Murtadha Mohammed and administrator Ahmed Elias, along with eight players – Bayan Salman, Shereen Abdulrahman, Noor Najaf, and Nouf Abdulla comprising the women’s squad and Nasser Al Mosawi, Isa Jassim, Mohammed Ghazwan, and Salman Al Kaabi for the men.
Both teams will first need to take part in their qualifying draws to earn their places in the tournament proper.
The Bahrainis are one of 14 women’s national teams in their qualifiers while there are 16 men’s squads.
Each field has been divided into four pools, and only the winners of each will move on to play in the tournament proper.
The Bahraini women are in qualifying draw C along with Chinese Taipei, Saudi Arabia, and Hong Kong.
Bahrain’s men are in their qualifying draw D along with Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, and India.
Both Bahrain’s women and men will play all their qualifying games on Wednesday.
