Abu Dhabi courts awarded a woman AED 30,000 (approx. BD 3,000) after she sued a company for moral and physical damages incurred by being squeezed by their elevator door.
The woman suffered several injuries, some of which required surgical intervention, when the elevator door squeezed her, leading to a lawsuit where she demanded damages from the company that operated the elevator.
She initially demanded AED 350,000 (approx. BD 35,000), but after much deliberation, the Abu Dhabi civil court awarded her compensation of AED 30,000 from the company, plus her legal fees, after it was discovered that the elevator was poorly maintained.
