BODYBUILDING – THE KHK Open Bodybuilding Championship 2026 will be held on September 19 at Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Hall at University of Bahrain, the Bahrain Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (BBFF) announced yesterday.
The third edition of the competition is to take place under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
BBFF president Sami Al Haddad extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to Shaikh Khalid for his generous support of the event, which comes within the framework of his support for Bahraini sports in general and bodybuilding in particular.
Al Haddad added that since the first edition of the championship in 2022, the meeting has witnessed remarkable participation and attendance – giving further reason to hold the event annually under Shaikh Khalid’s patronage, and as one of the largest and most important bodybuilding events.
This year’s KHK Open Bodybuilding Championship welcomes all Bahraini athletes, residents of other nationalities, and even those wishing to participate from outside the kingdom.
The competition is to feature seven categories, including two bodybuilding categories (75kg and over-75kg), two physique categories (176cm and over-176cm), two classic physique categories (176cm and over-176cm), and one master bodybuilding category (ages 40 and above).
Al Haddad noted that the judging panel will be international, comprising top arbiters from both inside and outside of Bahrain.
Al Haddad highlighted that the organising committee will allocate cash prizes for the top finishers. BD1,000 has been set for the winner of the overall Champion of Champions title in the bodybuilding, physique, and classic physique categories.
The top finishers in these categories who qualify to compete for the overall crown will also receive BD1,000 each, meaning that the overall Champion of Champions will therefore receive a total of BD2,000, Al Haddad explained.
Cash prizes have also been allocated for those placing second through fifth. Runners-up will get BD500, third will pocket BD300, fourth will get BD200, and fifth place will take home BD100.
In the masters bodybuilding category, first place will receive BD500, second BD300, and third BD200.
Registration and weigh-ins for all participating players are scheduled for September 18. All details regarding the registration process will be announced via the BBFF’s official Instagram account @bahrainbodybuilding.federation.
