The seventh edition of the Pravasi Legal Cell (PLC) Bahrain chapter’s ‘Connecting People’ platform was held over the weekend, bringing together government authorities, international organisations, embassy representatives, legal experts, community leaders and expatriates from diverse nationalities.
The day-long event featured awareness lectures by senior officials from the Bahrain government and international organisations, offering valuable information directly to expatriate communities.
The programme began with a welcome address by PLC Bahrain assistant general secretary Mohammed Saleem, as well as an official inauguration with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by attending dignitaries.
PLC global president and Supreme Court of India advocate-on-record Jose Abraham highlighted the importance of legal awareness, migrant protection, access to justice, and stronger co-operation between government institutions and expatriate communities.
Amongst the dignitaries present were Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs representatives Captain Mohammed Abdulaziz Al Hammadi, First Lieutenant Abdulla Fuad Al Hajee, Latifa Fakhroo and Hasan Bufutaim from the visa and residency department; Labour Market Regulatory Authority partnership and outreach director Fahad Al Binali, and staff member Shaikha Nabeel Al Mulla; Social Insurance Organisation legal legislative affairs head Ahmed Al Qanea, work injuries head Maryam Juma Fezaia, information systems analyst Noor Ahmed Al Sayegh and insurance services specialist Faisal Khaled Abdulla.
General Traffic Directorate and SIO staff delivered presentations providing practical guidance on traffic regulations, road safety, work injury benefits, social insurance coverage and end-of-service indemnity benefits.
International Organisation for Migration project officer Nihal AKL talked about safe migration, ethical recruitment, migrant protection mechanisms, and available support services.
Questions related to labour rights, visa regulations, social insurance benefits, end-of-service indemnity, work injury compensation, residency procedures, traffic regulations, legal disputes, migrant welfare, and access to government services were answered in detail by authorities and legal experts.
