Council for International Dispute Resolution of Bahrain secretary general Professor Marike Patrani Paulsson spoke at the International Conference Commemorating the 60th Anniversary of UNCITRAL, jointly hosted by the Supreme Court of India, India’s External Affairs Ministry of and UNCITRAL.
The three-day session, which ends today, was held at the Supreme Court premises in New Delhi. The session was chaired by Justice Manmohan and co-chaired by Justice Joymalya Bagchi, both judges of the India’s Supreme Court.
Professor Paulsson was joined on the panel by a distinguished group of speakers, including Victor Dawes SC of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre; Audley Sheppard, chair of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA); Dr Roberto Dalledone Machado Filho, secretary general of the Federal Supreme Court of Brazil; The Right Hon Lord Leggatt of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom and Justice Pasquale D’Ascola, first president of the Supreme Court of Cassation of Italy.
Justice Dato’ Mary Lim Thiam Suan, Judge of the Bahrain International Commercial Court, also spoke on a panel at the conference.
The council’s participation in this conference reflects the kingdom’s continued engagement with international efforts to strengthen and modernise the global arbitration framework, and underscores the country’s growing role in shaping the future of international commercial arbitration.
