Japanese footballer Kazuyoshi Miura has scored his first competitive goal in nearly four years at the age of 59 years and 149 days, making him the oldest player ever to score a goal in professional football.
Miura, the world's oldest active professional footballer, kicked off his career in 1986 with Brazil's Santos. He went on to enjoy an illustrious international career, winning the Asian Cup with Japan in 1992 and leading the nation through its campaign to qualify for its first-ever World Cup in 1998.
Although Miura played his last match for the national team in 2000, he continues to play at club level to this day. He is currently on loan at Fukushima United in Japan's third division.
