His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF) board of trustees chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa said that World Humanitarian Day is a global and national occasion to renew the commitment to noble humanitarian values, and to promote a culture of giving and mutual support as a shared social responsibility.
On World Humanitarian Day observed on August 19, he explained that this year coincides with the RHF’s celebration of 25 years of humanitarian work under the slogan ‘A Humanitarian Legacy’, noting that these efforts are an extension of the vision of His Majesty, the Honorary President of the RHF, and His Majesty’s firm belief that human beings are the centre and ultimate goal of development.
Shaikh Nasser also highlighted the support and follow up the RHF receives from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which strengthened the foundation’s standing and increased its humanitarian impact in Bahrain and abroad.
He added that, over the course of a quarter of a century, the foundation has established a comprehensive humanitarian model that combines care, empowerment and humanitarian response.
Foreign Minister and chairman of the International Human Rights Committee Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to supporting humanitarian work and providing relief and development assistance to countries and peoples affected by disasters, wars and crises.
Dr Al Zayani affirmed that Bahrain will continue its role in shaping international responses to humanitarian and developmental challenges, contributing to building a more secure and prosperous world.
