Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani received United Nations Secretary-General candidate of Guyana Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, during her visit to Bahrain. The meeting reviewed Bahrain-Guyana bilateral ties and their continued development in areas of mutual interest, in support of the shared interests of the two countries and their peoples.
Ms Rodrigues-Birkett briefed the minister on her campaign programme and vision for her candidacy for the post of UN secretary-general for the next term. Dr Al Zayani underscored the importance of the UN secretary-general’s active role in advancing the organisation’s efforts to promote global development and prosperity and safeguard international peace and security.
Dr Al Zayani also received Turkish Ambassador Ayse Hilal Sayan Koytak on the occasion of the end of her tenure. He expressed his appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Turkish ambassador in strengthening and developing bilateral co-operation, wishing her continued success in her future endeavours. The Turkish Ambassador also expressed her thanks and appreciation to Bahrain for the support and co-operation she received during her tenure.
