Frustrated villagers in India’s Uttar Pradesh state allegedly tied a telecom technician to a mobile tower in a bizarre protest over poor 5G connectivity.
The technician, Aditya Bhan Singh, was reportedly working at a telecom tower in Hardauli village, Fatehpur district, on Thursday when a group of residents surrounded him and allegedly took him hostage.

A video of the incident circulating on social media showed Singh tied to the tower with a rope as villagers, including children, stood nearby.
A villager is heard saying the technician would not be released until senior company officials arrived to address the problem.
Police said a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against unidentified villagers on Friday following Singh's complaint, and six people were subsequently arrested.
According to police, residents claimed they had been battling poor mobile connectivity for almost two years, despite a private telecom tower being installed in the village.
They reportedly told investigators that the network would frequently disappear even when electricity was available, leaving them struggling to make calls or access the internet.
