Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna Al Romaihi chaired the 24th meeting of the GCC Ministers of Housing Affairs. The meeting was hosted by Bahrain and attended by GCC Secretary-General Jasem Al Budaiwi.
Ms Al Romaihi noted that Bahrain, under the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, continues to prioritise housing and urban planning for their role in supporting social stability, improving quality of life and developing integrated and sustainable residential communities.
She highlighted the rapid developments in the housing sector, including the growing use of modern technologies, innovative financing solutions and digital transformation. She said these developments offer GCC countries greater opportunities to improve housing services, increase efficiency and sustainability, and provide citizens with more diverse and flexible options.
The kingdom prepared a guide on digital housing finance platforms for individuals in GCC countries, which was approved by the member states. The guide reflects the shared commitment to using modern digital solutions to develop housing finance systems across the GCC.
The Housing Minister noted that preparing the guide highlights the importance of practical initiatives in supporting joint GCC efforts, strengthening integration and sharing successful experiences among member states. She also highlighted the role of digital transformation in developing housing finance systems and expanding the options available to citizens.
She emphasised the importance of holding the GCC housing ministers’ meeting alongside the second edition of the Innovation Summit in the Social Housing Sector 2026. She said this provides an opportunity to exchange expertise, explore innovative solutions and practices, and strengthen GCC cooperation and integration in the housing sector.
