Billionaire investor Mahmood Haidar has lost his Kuwaiti nationality under an Amiri decree revoking citizenship from 415 individuals and their dependants.
Born in 1946, Haidar established himself as one of Kuwait’s most prominent investors after building an initial fortune in jewellery trading during the 1970s.
He later expanded his commercial interests across real estate, media, oil, and gas, eventually founding Zumorrodah Holding and Al Seef International Holding.
According to reports, Haidar had fraudulently obtained his nationality, with investigators identifying his origin as Iranian under the name Mahmood Haji.
Kuwaiti authorities have also launched an investigation into his assets, corporate holdings, and bank accounts.
