BASKETBALL – Bahrain’s Seef are set to compete this weekend in the Go Too! Group Aichi 2026 3x3 basketball tournament, scheduled for tomorrow and Sunday in Japan.
The competition, which is a part of this year’s Fiba 3x3 World Tour, acts as a qualifier for the Manama Masters – a top-tier event on the International Basketball Federation’s (Fiba) premier street basketball series.
Seef are set to take to the half court with a squad that includes Bogdan Dragovic, Austin Ajukwa, Uros Ilic, and Mohammed Alanzi.
They had been preparing for their participation with local practices in the kingdom.
Seef will have to compete in the qualifying draw in order to earn a place in the tournament proper in the Aichi event.
They are one of six teams in the qualifiers, placed in draw B along with Melbourne of Australia and Nagoya of Japan.
Draw A features Beijing of China, Kinshasa of DR Congo, and Balige of Indonesia.
Seef open their campaign against Nagoya tomorrow at 4.40am before taking on Melbourne at 6.20am. Both are Bahrain time.
The Bahrainis will need to finish in first place in their qualifying draw to earn a spot in pool play, which already features eight of the top outfits on this year’s Fiba 3x3 World Tour.
Should they go through, they will join Shanghai from China and Toronto from Canada in Pool D of the tournament proper’s preliminary round.
Pool A includes Liman of Serbia, and Shibuya and Shinjuku of Japan; Pool B comprises Skyliners of Germany, Crvena Zvezda of Serbia, and Singapore; and Pool C is composed of Raudondvaris Hoptrans from Lithuania, Cibona Ph.Classic from Croatia, and the team to emerge from qualifying draw A.
The Manama Masters is scheduled to take place on November 20 and 21 as the kingdom’s stop on this year’s Fiba 3x3 World Tour calendar, in which Bahrain is featuring for the fourth year in a row.
It will be the third staging of the Manama Masters, with previous editions being held in 2023 and 2024. Bahrain hosted the Fiba 3x3 World Tour Final last year.
