Bahrain’s voluntary societies and clubs could face a new system of administrative penalties, including fines of up to BD50 for non-compliance, under government-drafted legislation set for debate and a vote in Parliament on Tuesday.
The bill would introduce a graduated approach to violations of the law governing social and cultural societies, clubs, youth and sports organisations, and private institutions, while making court approval necessary to remove association and club board members .
