MANAMA: AIESEC, a global youth-run organisation, has been awarded a grant to conduct a capacity building training for eight NGOs in Bahrain.
The award under the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) Grant from the US Embassy, supports the project started by AIESEC in October 2020.
The participating NGOs are Rakaez Social Society, AlMutalaq Women Society, Alwane Bahrain Society, Bahrain Autistics Society, Fares AlFursan Centre, Bahrain Food Bank, Bahrain Association of Parents and Friends of the Disabled.
“The NGOs were selected based on their needs and the concentration was on those groups that lacked the basic infrastructure in terms of tracking funds, HR capacity, reporting systems of their activities, and impact measurement,” said AIESEC in Bahrain managing director Ahmed Shabbir.
Operating in Bahrain since 2006, AIESEC has managed development conferences, sessions and seminars covering various topics related to the United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs).
“The MEPI programme responds to needs and emerging opportunities for citizens and organisations that target two core objectives: Participatory governance and economic opportunity,” added Mr Shabbir.
“Since receiving the grant we have held multiple workshops delivered by professionally-trained AIESEC team leaders. The training sessions covered project management, design thinking, negotiations, communication, data management, reportability, crisis management, analysis skills, time management, tools and trackers usage, and presentation skills.”
