MANAMA: Stringent measures are in place to prevent cheats from misusing services provided by Tamkeen, it has been revealed.
All requests for support are thoroughly examined to ensure that they are genuine, it said yesterday.
Tamkeen was responding to a report published in our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej about alleged misuse of its services and financial support.
Tamkeen told Akhbar Al Khaleej that all requests for support go through a thorough examination to ensure its authenticity.
The majority of the stories circulating about some people fraudulently raising prices or submitting forged documents to obtain undeserved personal benefits from Tamkeen are baseless, it clarified.
It is quite possible that some people may try to cheat Tamkeen in this way but these attempts get thwarted as soon as an application is submitted to Tamkeen because of the rigorous examination and verification process that requests for support go through, Tamkeen said.
“No one is saying Tamkeen is perfect but we are trying to learn from our experiences and exert every effort to plug the loopholes,” it said.
Officials at the Labour Fund said that Tamkeen has the right to use all means at its disposal to foil attempts at cheating and apply the full force of law.
In certain cases fraudsters have been jailed for years, the organisation said.
People getting help from Tamkeen have to give an account of how the funds have been used and many frauds get uncovered towards the end of the contract when the outcomes get checked.
Violators are blacklisted, with about 25 individuals and establishments added to the blacklist every year, Tamkeen said.
