A MAN who stole BD2,000 from his friend’s home after forging a court document has been jailed for five years.
The 30-year-old Bangladeshi was found guilty of theft and forgery by the High Criminal Court yesterday.
He stole the amount from a fellow national after the latter was arrested in connection with a kidnap case.
Deported
He will be deported after completing his sentence.
“The victim described to authorities how the defendant had betrayed his trust,” said the ruling.
“The victim said that he was arrested in connection with a kidnap case.
“The defendant then told the victim that he had received a BD2,000 fine.
“The victim asked the defendant to collect the money from his house.
“However, he later found out that he had not been fined at all.
“The defendant had forged a document to justify his claim.”
