  • Bahrain’s Ambassador to Türkiye Bassam Marzouq took part in the Fifth Turkish Maritime Summit, which was held under the auspices of the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure in Istanbul. The summit, which coincides with the centenary of Turkish coastal transport, was opened by Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu. The summit awards ceremony was held under the patronage of Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz. Strategic issues related to the future of maritime transport, including the digital transformation of ports, use of artificial intelligence applications, smart ports and security and safety of maritime navigation were discussed.

The event was inaugurated by SMIOC president and vicar Reverend Father Thomaskutty PN, in the presence of Fr Kris Sebi, trustee John KP, secretary Abey Kuruvila and other managing committee members. They signed the pledge addressed to His Majesty King Hamad, demonstrating their allegiance, gratitude and support for Bahrain’s leadership. <p>An awareness lecture on the importance of promoting the mental well-being of women and children was organised by the General Directorate of Women Police in partnership with the Public Prosecution.   • <p>Education Minister Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma conducted an inspection visit to centres administering the English language proficiency assessment (APTIS) as part of the final stage of evaluations for admission to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) in government schools.</p>
<p>The minister met the students and parents, as well as members of the educational and administrative teams overseeing the assessment process.</p>
<p>A total of 559 students qualified for the final stage of evaluations, which involved more than 3,000 students from all intermediate schools across Bahrain.</p>

  • Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) staged the grand finale of its annual cultural programme, Devji BKS GCC Kalotsavam 2026, yesterday, marking the end of the festival. The glittering event, held at its premises in Segaiya, featured Indian Ambassador Vinod Jacob as chief guest and included an award ceremony for winners of individual and group competitions. Around 800 participants across age groups took part in this year’s edition. In a first, Kalotsavam introduced the Special GCC Championship award this year, which was presented to Iris Elma Liju from Saudi Arabia.
