<p>Unregistered community welfare group Pravasi Legal Cell (PLC) Bahrain Chapter hosted a farewell ceremony for Indian Embassy First Secretary (Community Welfare and Commerce) Ravi Kumar Jain at the Indian Darbar Restaurant, Adliya. The event was attended by embassy officials, MP Dr Hassan Bukhammas and community members. PLC Bahrain Chapter president Sudheer Thirunilath praised Mr Jain&rsquo;s exemplary service, highlighting his pivotal role in strengthening the bridge between the embassy and the Indian expatriate community.</p>

<p>Bishop Aldo Berardi, the Apostolic Vicar of Northern Arabia, took part in a special gathering at the Vatican with the Trinitarian Order and Pope Leo XIV, as part of the Jubilee of Bishops, which was a specific gathering of bishops from around the world in Rome, culminating in a meditation and address by the Pope. The Trinitarian Order, formerly known as the Order of the Most Holy Trinity and of the Captives, held its general chapter and had the honour of meeting with the Pope, marking an important occasion of reflection and fellowship.&nbsp;</p>

  • Bahrain’s Ambassador to Canada and resident in Washington Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa took part in Canada Day celebrations organised by Global Affairs Canada on the occasion of the 157th anniversary of Canadian Confederation. The ambassador extended his congratulations to Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand as well as to the government and people of Canada. He highlighted the strong relations between Bahrain and Canada, the kingdom’s keenness to enhance co-operation with the new Canadian government in ways that support mutual interests across various domains.

  • <p>Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa attended the Huawei Bahrain 2024 ICT Talent Achievement closing ceremony.</p>
<p>The event was attended by Chinese Ambassador Ni Ruchi.</p>
<p>During the event, students, faculty, and mentors were honoured across various categories for their achievements.</p>
<p>The Huawei ICT Competition is one of the region&rsquo;s leading technology education initiatives.</p>
<p>Over the past decade, it has trained more than 300,000 students and certified over 35,000 professionals across the Middle East and Central Asia.</p>

  • <p>Civil Defence officers yesterday extinguished a fire that broke out in a vehicle following a traffic accident on Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway towards Manama.</p>
<p>The National Ambulance Service rushed to the scene and provided first aid to the female driver, who reportedly sustained minor injuries.</p>

  • <p>Southern Governor Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa visited Isa Town Ma&rsquo;atam, as part of ongoing oversight of Ashoora preparations.</p>
<p>He highlighted the Southern Governorate&rsquo;s keenness in strengthening the community partnership strategy, in implementing the instructions of Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa by providing all forms of security, community support and co-operation.</p>

  • <p>A special blood donation campaign to support Bahrain Society for Sickle Cell Disease Patient Care was organised by the Northern Governorate as part of Ashoora activities.</p>
<p>It was held at the Reef Hall in Malkiya and attended by Northern Governor Ali Al Asfoor, who was among the 89 individuals who donated blood at the event.</p>
<p>Also present was the society head Zakreya Kadhem.</p>

  • <p>His Majesty King Hamad received US Ambassador Steven C Bondy and Vice Admiral George Wikoff, Commander of the US Naval Forces Central Command and Commander of the Fifth Fleet, at Safriya Palace.</p>
<p>His Majesty expressed Bahrain&rsquo;s pride in the long-standing historical relations and close partnership with the US, which for decades have been based on trust, respect, and joint co-ordination.</p>
<p>The King noted the ongoing progress in bilateral co-operation, especially in military co-ordination, defence co-operation, and in various areas of development as two allied countries.</p>

  • <p>Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna Al Romaihi received Bahrain Society for Tolerance and Coexistence of Religions (Ta&rsquo;ayush) board of directors chairman Yousef Mohammad Bozboun, along with board members, who presented her with a copy of the book In the Hospitality of the King of Peace.</p>
<p>The publication documents the efforts of His Majesty King Hamad in promoting interfaith tolerance, dialogue, and coexistence.</p>
<p>Ms Al Romaihi emphasised Bahrain&rsquo;s civilisational approach under the leadership of the King and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which has positioned the kingdom as a model of peace and coexistence.</p>
<p>She praised the association&rsquo;s role in fostering a culture of peace, dialogue, and mutual respect, and in highlighting Bahrain&rsquo;s progressive image globally.</p>
<p>The book also chronicles historic visits to Bahrain by Grand Imam of Al Azhar Dr Ahmed Al Tayeb and Pope Francis, further underscoring the kingdom&rsquo;s contributions to global religious harmony.</p>

  • <p>The Bahrain Olympic Academy (BOA), affiliated with the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), concluded a physical literacy course held in co-operation with the Education Ministry at Al Marifa Secondary School for Girls.</p>
<p>A select group of physical education teachers, both men and women, participated in the course.</p>
<p>A closing ceremony was attended by BOC executive director of operations Ahmed Abdulghaffar, who distributed certificates to the participants. Abdulghaffar praised the positive interaction and outstanding performance they demonstrated throughout the course, which included a number of practical applications and theoretical lectures.</p>
<p>It also featured a series of practical activities and exercises that reflected the participants&rsquo; level of engagement with the scientific and professional aspects presented by a group of specialised instructors.</p>

  • <p>The Higher Education Council (HEC) board of trustees, chaired by Education Minister and board chairman Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma, held its regular meeting and reviewed the implementation schedule of decisions made in the previous meeting, and examined several reports on the performance of the higher education sector.</p>
<p>It also discussed requests submitted by higher education institutions and issued several decisions.</p>
<p>The board approved the updated operational plan for the HEC and was informed of the results of the review of higher education sector development indicators, as well as the periodic report on monitoring the implementation of the council&rsquo;s operational plan initiatives.</p>

  • <p>BS Action won the second tournament of the Bahrain 3x3 Summer Tour 2025, played at the Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) Arena in Um Al Hassam.</p>
<p>The triumphant BS Action squad consisted of Alwatheq Ali, Hussain Faraj, Saif Al Galaf, and Ahmed Fateel.</p>

  • <p>A Gulf Air flight carrying 163 Bahrainis stranded in Iran arrived from Turkmenistan yesterday. In addition, 504 citizens returned to the kingdom by land, with transportation arrangements provided by the Foreign Ministry from the Iranian city of Mashhad. </p><p>The ministry emphasised its continued commitment to securing the return of all remaining Bahraini citizens stranded in countries affected by the current regional situation.</p>

  • <p>A woman and child had to flee after a fire in a wooden room spread to a neighbouring property in Bani Jamra.</p>
<p>Civil Defence firemen extinguished the blaze and a crew from the National Ambulance Service was also in attendance.</p>
<p>Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.</p>

  • <p>The Education Ministry has announced that public schools will begin distributing textbooks for the upcoming academic year 2025-2026 next Sunday.</p>
<p>Students and their guardians can receive them from schools according to a schedule that will be issued by the school, the ministry clarified. It also pointed out that the distribution of the textbooks before the summer vacation will allow students to familiarise themselves with their content and prepare for the new school year.</p>
