A MAN who exposed himself to police officers and assaulted them has been sentenced to three years in prison.
The 28-year-old Bahraini was already serving time at the Dry Dock Detention Centre over a drug-related case when the incident happened in August 2020.
The inmate got agitated and hurled verbal abuse at an officer after being refused a cigarette. He then dangled his crown jewels and chased policemen around the facility.
The man, in a fit of rage, climbed on top of tables and smashed close circuit camera equipment before attacking the prison guards.
He was found guilty of physically assaulting officers, using foul language and public indecency by the High Criminal Court yesterday.
“The defendant attacked officers before damaging CCTV cameras at the facility,” the court said in its verdict.
“He was angry because he was not allowed to smoke.”
The defendant admitted to all three charges after initially denying the first two and blaming the indecent exposure on prescription pills.
Several of the prison guards were injured in the attack.
