Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities president Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa yesterday attended the ceremony of Irbid: the Arab Capital of Culture for 2022, held under the patronage of King Abdullah of Jordan.
The event was attended by a number of Jordanian ministers, Arab culture ministers, guest delegations, and senators and deputies, among other officials.
She said, “We recall what the city of Manama, which was chosen 10 years ago as the capital of Arab culture, has achieved, and over the years it has not ceased to present a unique Arab model in preserving heritage.”
She praised the Arab Cultural Capitals Programme, “which enhances the status of cities and their heritage that contributes to achieving sustainable development.”
