The Kingdom of Bahrain strongly condemned and denounced the continued terrorist attacks carried out by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including an attack targeting Taif Governorate with a drone. The interception and destruction of the drone caused falling debris that resulted in the death of a resident and injuries to a female citizen and another resident, in addition to material damage to several buildings and vehicles.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attack as a flagrant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, the Charter of the United Nations and relevant Security Council resolutions.
The ministry reiterated Bahrain's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its unequivocal support for all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security and stability and protect its citizens and residents, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter. It emphasised that the security and stability of Saudi Arabia are an integral part of Bahrain's national security, while expressing sincere condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased resident, a Yemeni national, and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
The ministry reiterated Bahrain's call for the Security Council to assume its responsibilities and adopt a firm stance to halt repeated Houthi terrorist attacks targeting civilians and civilian objects in Saudi Arabia, hold the perpetrators accountable and implement relevant resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216 and the demand in Resolution 2817 to cease the use of proxies, thereby contributing to regional and international security and stability.
