A NURSERY shut down on Monday for violations has been given until June 30 to make corrections.
The Education Ministry announced yesterday that the licence of Disney Nursery in Saar continues to be inactive after it was revoked on Monday.
The ministry’s decision to give the nursery a lifeline has come after talks with the nursery owner who sought time in line with educational rules and regulations.
“If the requirements are not in line with rules and regulations then the decision to revoke the licence remains,” said the ministry on its Instagram account.
“We have received requests from parents to have children who were registered at the nursery transferred to other nurseries and all have been approved.”
On Monday, the ministry said the decision to shut down the nursery was taken after the owner was found incapable of taking responsibility and caring for children.
The GDN reported in September last year that officials encouraged parents to pay special attention to the credentials of educational facilities and the qualifications of members of staff before placing a child in their care.
This followed widespread anger over allegations of child abuse at a Bahrain nursery.
A video that went viral showed a nursery employee slapping and reprimanding a young girl; the woman was later arrested.
The employee who filmed the video was also arrested and the day-care facility closed.
