New York: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, took part in the GCC and UK Joint Ministerial meeting, on the sidelines of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 78).
The GCC delegation was headed by Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi, Oman’s Foreign Affairs Minister and chairman of the ministerial council’s current session, in the presence of GCC countries’ foreign ministers and Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi, GCC Secretary-General.
The UK delegation was headed by James Cleverly, UK’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs.
The meeting discussed relations between the GCC countries and the UK, which is witnessing development in all fields in light of the mutual keenness to advance cooperation in the political, security, economic and development fields to more comprehensive levels in order to achieve mutual interests.
The meeting discussed the developments of the GCC and UK relations and ways to benefit from the opportunities available to increase cooperation between the two sides in various economic, social, cultural and development fields.
The meeting also discussed the latest developments in the regional and international levels and their implications for regional and global security, stability and peace, and ways to expand areas of political cooperation.
Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Ambassador of Bahrain to the UK and Ambassador Jamal Fares Al Rowaiei, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the UN were present.
