The Civil Service Bureau (CSB) has developed an electronic system to study employees’ requests for working remotely. its director general of policies and wages Reem Marhoon has said.
This comes as part of CSB’s ongoing drive to provide technologically advanced services to government sector employees.
Ms Marhoon added that 330 requests to work from home have been received during the first half of this year.
CSB organised an introductory workshop on the employee remote work system for a number of directors, heads of human resources departments and specialists from ministries and other government bodies.
The workshop mentioned the objectives of the system and explained the implementation mechanism, responsibilities, scope of application and the procedures that must be followed by the concerned government bodies.
She added that the remote work system is based on specific criteria and governed by certain terms and conditions, and allows the employee to perform his/her duties and job responsibilities from different locations other than the workplace (such as from home or different locations, including external work sites), as may be required by the job tasks and needs. Government bodies are to submit their requests for remote work to the Civil Service Bureau for its approval.
