The Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture His Excellency Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak chaired the Bahrain Agriculture Development Company’s (Gheras) regular board meeting.
During the meeting, Al Mubarak stressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment towards enhancing food security, highlighting the forward-looking national programs and initiatives developed towards reaching that goal.
His Excellency then went on to welcome Eng. Abdulaziz Salmeen on the occasion of his appointment as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. Eng. Salmeen brings with him a rich career in the agricultural sector spanning over 14 years.
Al Mubarak noted that the agricultural sector is rife with opportunities and national talents who are skilled in the use and deployment of modern agricultural techniques, that reinforce achieving the set goals in this regard. He added that the company is currently executing its operational plans according to schedule, including the initiation of the first phase of its hydroponics farming project.
The Board also discussed the company’s ongoing projects in partnership with the private sector in addition to recent developments in the agricultural sector.
