St Christopher’s School has announced the appointment of Mohammed Jalal Contracting as the lead contractor for the construction of its new senior school campus in Al Raffa.
The move means that one of the leading private schools in Bahrain is one-step closer to turning a long-cherished dream into reality after a determined search for a suitable plot of land.
The significant milestone was marked by the recent formal signing of a ‘Letter of Award’ by St Christopher’s School chair of governors Maarten Geeraerts and Mohammed Jalal and Sons managing director, Ahmed M Jalal.
The ceremony was attended by key representatives from all project partners, including National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) Corporate and Commercial Banking group head, Ali Abdulkarim, DG Jones and Partners general manager, Christian Boujaoude, MSCEB vice chairman of the board and managing director, Thamer Salahuddin and Baker Wilkins & Smith (BWS) general manager, Nick Hodgson.
With the signing of the document, the project now moves into the construction phase, with completion expected by spring 2026.
St Christopher’s School principal Dr Simon Watson expressed his delight, saying: “We are extremely pleased to partner with Mohammed Jalal Contracting to realise our vision for the new senior school. This marks a significant step forward in our ongoing commitment to providing world-class facilities that support the academic success and holistic development of our students.
“We anticipate good progress in the coming months as we build a learning environment that will inspire current and future generations of St Christopher’s students.”
The new campus will boast state-of-the-art facilities and significantly enhance the educational experience for students, ensuring that St Christopher’s remains at the forefront of academic excellence in the region, the project leaders’ promise.
Mr Geeraerts echoed Dr Watson’s sentiment, adding: “Signing the Letter of Award with Mohammed Jalal Contracting is an important step in bringing our new senior school campus to life. This partnership reinforces our commitment to enhancing the educational experience for our students, and we are excited to see our vision take shape in the coming months.”
From its modest beginnings in a villa in 1961, St Christopher’s has grown into a large, internationally-renowned, non-profit school with more than 2,000 students from around 60 nations, aged from three to 18, in Saar and Isa Town campuses. With more than 60 years of history, the school aims to offer a vibrant learning environment that nurtures creativity, curiosity and academic achievement.
The school community will receive updates as the work on the new site progresses.
